Gate-fold brochures are not very common; this is why they produce great impact when they are appropriately used. When printed outside they are often costly, you can produce them for the same cost as a trifold - and just as easily. 

The single gate (or French window) has six panels (picture left) - the right and left flaps foldign to meet at the centre.  Behind this is a single printed area.  

The double gate fold (picture right-top) has 8 surfces : 1 front panel, 1 back panel, and 6 internal panels; however, this configuration can be changed, an alternative being the barrel fold (picture right bottom)

They are excellent for the presentation of institutions, companies and high-end products and services - and equally well they can be used as innovative greeting cards.
